Elun Carménère

Carménère has a long and winding journey for it to come to Chile. It is actually known mostly as one of the blending grapes of Bordeaux. It never played a huge role, often just a few percent. It certainly never earned much acclaim. However, that would change as winemaking spread from just Europe to an endeavor practiced around the globe.

Chile is one of the hot beds of New World winemaking, a place where there are amazing value wines to be found. One of the countrys experiments was to plant Carménère and make wine made entirely of the grape. It was a wild success. It became Chiles signature grape, red or white. It makes absolutely delicious wine. Carménère finally got to step into the spotlight.

Bright and purplish red, the wine has an aroma of red fruit that explodes from the glass. Clean on the palate, the red fruit continues and is balanced by a very slight and subtle note of red pepper, one of the signature herbaceous notes of Carménère. The rich and full flavors make this incredibly smooth with a long and lingering finish.
